Welcome to the ‘Poetic Dwelling Archive’, a community project led by Leitrim artists Edwina Guckian & Natalia Beylis in which we present stories, music and news from our local area. The project covers a circumference of 50 townlands located around our two homes. We invite anyone who lives in the area to submit stories, recipes, folklore, mythology, music, poems, history, field recordings, research etc.
‘The Poetic Dwelling’ catchment area is only special in that it could be anyplace at all. Scratch beneath the surface of any 50 townlands in Ireland and you’ll find the same magic and folklore that we hope to uncover here.
Episode 2: We spend some time in Edwina’s barn talking about Brigid’s Day traditions and making a Brideog out of straw. We visit uileann piper John Tuhoy’s workshop & Mat Warren’s recording studio to talk about his new full length album “Nephoscope” inspired by clouds and ‘the ever-evolving vistas that occur above our heads’.
