Irish Percussive Dance Workshops with Edwina Guckian

WORKSHOP 1: 8pm (GMT) – Bacach Shíol Andaí – Level: Beginner – Advanced

Focusing on the song Bacach Shíol Andaí performed by Ye Vagabonds, Edwina will teach you several jig steps rhythms to match the rhythm of the words. Edwina choreographed this dance as part of her residency on Árainn Mhór island off the north west coast of Ireland, Co. Donegal with Féile Róise Rua in May 2023. She then danced it at the grave of Róise Rua with Ye Vagabonds. This class is a slow paced class and suitable for beginners to advanced dancers.

WORKSHOP 2: 9pm (GMT) –  Begley & Cooney Slides –  Level: Intermediate – Advanced

Slides are great fun to dance but seldom danced percussively. These are Edwina’s favourite selection of slides and in this class she will teach you several steps and rhythms to fit slides so you will have another option of tune to dance (other than reels and jigs) when it comes to Sean Nós Dancing. This class is a faster paced class and suitable for people who have been learning percussive dance for 2+ years or more.

Dance with Edwina every Monday LIVE from her home. The class will be recorded and made available for you to PLAYBACK in your own time if the timing of the last class doesn’t suit you or, if like many others, you like to look back over the class to refresh the steps and information. After each class Edwina will send you music, a synopsis video of what was learned and information that was shared in that class. The playback will be available to view until 31st January 2024.
