SEAN NÓS AR AN TSIONANN
Club Damhsa Sean Nós ar an tSionann is a dance Club based in Ireland and run by Edwina Guckian. There are 11 teachers along with Edwina teaching at the club and dancers attending from all over Ireland. Edwina originally set up the club in 2004 in Carrick on Shannon, Co. Leitrim and since then it has extended across 10 counties. While the club is mainly for children, pop up adult classes occur regularly too.
Sean Nós Dancing is the main style of dancing taught at the club but throughout the year the dancers also learn set dancing, 2 hand dances, Lindy Hop, Tap Dance, Jiving, Flatfooting and contemporary dance to name a few.
Guest teachers from across the world regularly visit the club to teach their skills in not just dancing but music, song, performance and theatre too.
Over the years groups from the club have performed for the president of Ireland, won All Ireland Set & Sean Nós Dancing titles, awarded the Rehab Culture Group of the Year, won the final of TG4’s An Jig Gig, reached the finals of RTE’s All Ireland Talent Show, performed on the renowned Late Late Toy Show, broken world records, cast in world renowned films such as Ken Loach’s “Jimmy’s Hall” and have made several exhilarating videos that have gone viral around the world.
The main aim of the club if to teach children how to dance, to have fun and meet new life long friends, express themselves through movement and dance however they wish and to explore music, song and dance from our own country and other cultures across the globe. The children regularly take part in local sessions and ceilthe and perform at concerts, festivals and charity events.

Edwina works as a volunteer for this charity and regularly visits Vesnova Children’s Mental Asylum Belarus where she has made life long friends with the children there.
There are 12 extremely talented, hard working and fantastically enthusiastic dance teachers working alongside Edwina at the club. They come from Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Mayo and Kerry.
